Bio
Dennis “Denny” Udodi, father, husband, brother,
uncle, and friend has gotten his wings back and has now flown away to be with
our Lord.
Dennis went to be with the Lord, Friday, May 27,
2011 at 62 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He worked as a Revenue Analyst
for Lockheed for many years and later as a teacher with Los Angeles Unified
School District. Dennis loved children and the children loved him. He was
everyone’s “Uncle D” or Mr. Dennis. He was loved for who he was – a caring,
loving, and nurturing man who will be remembered by those he touched. Dennis
always wanted to be the star when he entered a room, he made people laugh with
his jokes and there was never a dull moment with him.
He was born in Nigeria. He studied at the
California State University, Polytechnic Pomona (Caly Poly, Pomona) and then
University of La Verne where he earned a Master’s Degree in Agricultural
Management in 1982. He was the son of Chief and Mrs. Henry Odunze of Atani. He
is survived by Dr. (Mrs.) Ifeoma Ngozi Odunze (wife), Miss Chinyelu Ifeoma
Odunze (daughter), Mr. Chukwuemeka Udodi Odunze (son), Onyebuchi Ikenna Odunze
(son), and a host of aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Towards the end of his life he was an inspiration
to many. His faith in God was unshaken, and unwaivering. From his sick bed he
ministered and gave hope to those that came to visit him. He spoke about the
Lord with conviction. He was there at every church service and Wednesday “Fresh
Encounter with the Lord” service, until he was no longer able to.
We appreciate your prayers and our hearts are sorrowful, yet we rejoice
at the joy of knowing that Dennis spent his life well and is resting peacefully
in the Lord’s bossom, where there is no more pain.
“The Lord gave and the Lord took, glory be to his name.”
